EPP Political Assembly adopts code of conduct, expresses concern about the ongoing protests in Hong Kong

The European People’s Party (EPP) Political Assembly (PA) met in Brussels to discuss political developments in member states, adopted Code of Conduct for EPP Ethics Committee as well as a resolution the ongoing protests in Hong Kong and prepared for the upcoming EPP Congress in Zagreb.

The members of the Political Assembly adopted a Code of Conduct for the party members as well as internal regulations for the EPP Ethics Committee, reaffirming EPP’s commitment to fight against corruption and conflicts of interest on all levels.

The EPP Political Assembly expressed its concern regarding the ongoing protests in Hong Kong. In a resolution, the Political Assembly stressed that peaceful protestors should never suffer violence or political persecution at the hands of police, security forces or criminal gangs and calls on Chief Executive Lam and the HKSAR to follow through on their September commitment to investigate police conduct vis-à-vis protesters.

The Political Assembly also amended the party’s statutes and internal regulations.
