Esther de Lange

Esther de Lange, born on 19 February 1975 in Spaubeek (NL), has been serving as a Member of the European Parliament since 2007.

After her studies, Esther de Lange worked at the European Federation of National Organisations Working with the Homeless and the Verband der Fruchtsaftindustrie and Bundesverband der Spirituosenindustrie. Between 1999 and 2007, she worked as a policy advisor for the Dutch EPP delegation.

Currently, De Lange is a member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health, and Food Safety (ENVI) and of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON). She is also member of the delegations for EU relations with China and Central Asia.

Previously, she was Vice-Chair of the special committee on Financial Crimes, Tax Evasion and Tax Avoidance (TAX3) and a member of the Committee on Industry, Research, and Energy (ITRE); the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI); the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM); the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) and the Committee on Budgetary Control (BUDG).

In 2014, De Lange was elected one of the vice-chairs of the EPP Group in the European Parliament, responsible for the relations with national legislatures. In her current role as vice-chair of the EPP group, she is in charge of the working group Economy & Environment. In 2018, she became vice-chair of the European People’s Party.

Esther de Lange is the mother of an 8-year-old son.

She is fluent in English, French and German.
